Active use of NFT… ICT companies creating a 'character ecosystem'
본문
Cases of information and communication technology (ICT) companies using their own characters as non-fungible token (NFT) businesses are emerging one after another. The idea is to create a character-based intellectual property (IP) ecosystem and build a virtuous cycle structure by increasing the utilization of NFTs, which have been limited to expecting market profits through the collection.
According to the industry on the 13th, IPX (formerly Line Friends) will release the character series ‘OOZ&mates’ as NFT this month. It is an attempt to introduce a series of characters as NFTs, which previously were first released in the form of messenger emoticon stickers, products, and animations. Based on 9 characters, 9999 NFTs will be issued with slightly different details. For each NFT, IP ownership is given so that the design can be used in various businesses. This means that you can make money by using your NFT pictures on clothes, product packaging, and video content. You do not have to pay a separate royalty for IPX.
At the end of last month, LG Uplus issued its own character ‘Muner’ design as an NFT. 50 NFTs were given to brand fans through a pre-booking method, and 306 were officially issued and distributed in the market. LG U+ plans to issue the second NFT in the second half of this year. Last April, Bora Network issued a character NFT based on Kakao Friends IP.
