The world's only ski NFT platform has emerged, drawing attention. The move is aimed at overcoming the weak financial problems faced by ski associations in non-mainstream countries with NFT.

Redditus, a company specializing in information and communication technology (ICT) and fintech, announced on the 21st that it will launch the Metaers Platform in earnest, which will involve ski associations from 31 countries around the world, including Asia, Latin America and Africa.

As a result, 31 countries and their ski associations can issue NFTs for public interest and donation purposes to foster their skiers through the Meta Earth platform, and their citizens will participate in the donation.

The funds provided by NFT will be used to develop the domestic ski industry, including athletes' training, and participation in international competitions, and people in the country will be able to support their skiers and promote patriotism through donations.

"Metaus Ski NFT for public interest and donation purposes is expected to expand rapidly from 31 countries to 70 countries," said CEO Jung Gil-mo, who leads the Metaus platform. "Metaus plans to build a virtuous cycle ecosystem that improves individual athletes' skills and improves their national prestige through NFT donations from skiing to winter sports and summer sports."

Currently, there are 142 member states of the International Ski Federation (FIS). There are ski resorts in Australia and New Zealand in the southern hemisphere as well as the Alps covered with ice caps. There are ski resorts and skiers in African countries that are unlikely to snow at all, while Dubai, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia have indoor ski resorts. Thailand, Turkiye and Mexico are also members of the International Ski Federation.

Skiing is a representative winter sports event that is so popular that countries without ski resorts are also creating associations, but ski associations in most countries except Europe and North America have no choice but to rely on government subsidies or corporate and individual donations due to wide gaps in athletes' skills, athletes' class and infrastructure. In addition, ski associations in countries on the periphery of skiing are vulnerable to management of donors, providing benefits, and grafting new technologies, making it difficult to draw continuous donations.

In particular, non-mainstream national ski associations rely on their own government subsidies or corporate donations for most of the necessary funds, including operating expenses. For this reason, there is always a shortage of available resources and if the situation worsens, it is operated at the expense of the head of the organization.

In the case of the Asian Ski Federation (ASF), which has 18 member countries, only one Alpine event out of several ski events is held once a year due to financial problems. It is held every year, but even this is held alternately by age due to insufficient finances. This means that even the most active adults can participate only once every three years.

In addition, the number of participating countries in the Asian Alpine Championship, the only competition held by the Asian Ski Federation, accounts for only 50-60% of all member countries. There is a huge lack of international competition stages or opportunities for players to participate. Against this backdrop, skiers from non-mainstream countries such as Asia and Africa cannot even qualify for major international competitions such as the Winter Olympics and the World Ski Championships. They are eligible to participate only when they are within a certain ranking based on their international competition performance, because they have no or very little experience in participating in international competitions.

In this situation, Metaers' ski NFT will play a role in leading the continuity of donations by increasing donations and providing benefits through NFT donations and communication through communities instead of traditional donation and sponsorship fundraising methods.

"Ski NFT donations can lead to ski development in the country and a ski boom among the people, which in turn can create a virtuous cycle that leads to an increase in donations," a Metaus Platform official said. "In the end, skiing is a hidden jewel-like event that can show optimal synergy with NFT."

National Ski Associations Financial Solutions

Earlier on the 13th, Redditus held an event to launch the Metaus platform that combines skiing and NFT in Earth Cruise, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and introduced NFTs in three areas: △ Ski △ Art △ Influencer. Indian alpine skier Anchal Thakur, a winter sports barren, attended the event and praised the meaning of skiing and NFT meeting. Thakur is a female athlete who emerged as a national hero by giving India her first medal in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine Aid 3200 Cup slalom event held in Erzurum, Turkiye in January 2018.

The ski NFT, which was introduced on this day, will form an ecosystem for ski development and sustainability under unfavorable conditions such as △ A vicious cycle in which skiers cannot even qualify for international competitions due to financial problems △ A decline in the middle class due to economic polarization △ Global Inflation and COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, unlike the existing sports sponsorship method, Ski NFT is a framework for △ Donors (people, businesses, NFT investors) △ certain donations (additional profits set at the time of NFT issuance) △ Donor benefits (VIP seats, parties with athletes, discounting ski resort tickets, participating in team operation decisions) △ Donor management (NFT) △ Donor certificate.

Based on level certification projects and ski resort partnerships that can generate profits on their own, the Meta Earth platform's Ski NFT plays a key role in generating value and fostering ecosystems by moving between participants such as △ Ski Association △ Donors △ Ski Players and Clubs. Regarding the association's ski level education, the resort's lesson ticket NFT is used, and season tickets, lift tickets, tickets, rental tickets, accommodation tickets, and memberships can be presented and used at any time on mobile.

The Metaus platform plans to expand to "Snow NFT" for all winter sports events and "Sports NFT" including summer sports events in the future. Subsequently, the metaverse service "SkiVerse" to cope with climate change, the biggest issue in the ski industry, will be launched.

"The ski NFT ecosystem includes many associations and ski resorts in countries that are already level-certified, so we can provide one-stop services according to regulations and procedures that suit the country's situation," CEO Chung said.
