Possibilities and Institutional Limitations of NFT

The metaverse, where you can buy land, decorate a house, and go to work, can be said to be a mixture of virtual and reality. NFTs can be used like real money in this metaverse environment and have value as ownership. The metabus market is expected to grow further in the future. NFT can also be seen as the same thin area as the metaverse. Although it is a digital asset, you can think of it as an extension of the cryptocurrency we know today.

In the metaverse, games are developing grafted NFT technology. Kakao Games is also moving to concretize its NFT business model through the promotion of a merger with its subsidiary Friends Games and Way2Bit.

But there are also institutional issues that need to be solved. Currently, it is difficult for NFT blockchain games to be serviced through official rating classification in Korea. It is not easy to launch as the Game Rating Administration Committee is making a decision to cancel the rating classification with monitoring. Recently, ‘Five Stars for Klaytn’, a domestic blockchain game, was deleted from the Google Store after two months. This is because NFT items belong to individuals, so the act of buying and selling should be viewed as speculative. In addition, it cites as an example the reason why it is concerned about speculative use because it can be cashed in conjunction with the exchange cryptocurrency currently being traded.

There is also a view that the rating classification implemented in Korea can block the growth of NFT games. It is necessary to face the problems, as rapid growth, and make efforts to improve together.

All in all, we only remember the coin market, which fell significantly in 2018. However, development continued before and after that. In 2021, which attracted attention again, more characteristic technologies were announced, showing the potential of the blockchain market again. Rather than being afraid of change, adapting and preparing a foothold for systematic operation will be the task that our country and we must solve.
