Dunamu's social contribution activities are characterized by the active use of blockchain-related technologies, unlike general financial companies. Examples include tree planting projects through platforms such as metaverse and non-replaceable tokens (NFT) or projects to help the disabled. Analysts say that it is the result of considering ways to contribute to society with Dunamu's unique technology and funds.
Dunamu conducted a "Having My Tree with Second Forest" campaign in March using its metaverse platform "Second Block." If a virtual tree is planted in the second forest implemented in the second block, it is a campaign to create an actual forest in the forest fire-damaged area. The goal was 5,000 people for five days, and a total of 28,000 people participated.
An official from Dunamu said, "When we saw a user wandering because he/she did not know how to participate on the meta bus, we guided him/her through direct chat." Eight out of 10 campaign participants reportedly responded, "A metaverse-style campaign is needed and it has affected actual campaign participation." Dunamu and the Korea Forest Service planted 12,260 trees in the forest fire-damaged area in Gyeongsangbuk-do in May under the Second Forest campaign. In June, about 40 Dunamu executives and family members volunteered to plant trees in the Yangpyeong Healing Forest.
In partnership with the international medical relief organization Doctors Without Borders, the "Missing Map" project, which identifies areas that are difficult to access due to natural disasters or armed conflicts, also drew attention. Mising Map is a method of creating an accurate digital map of the relief activity area through crowd sourcing where the general public shares information. It plays an important role in improving medical access to rapid epidemiological investigations and relief goods transportation plans by identifying the size of the affected areas. Unlike the existing production method, where volunteers gather in one place to make maps, this activity operates in a second block without space-time constraints. It is expected that it will be able to respond quickly to various crisis situations while increasing the participation of domestic volunteers.
Donation activities using NFT are also active. In April, Dunamu sold a total of three works by making NFTs of artists with developmental disabilities in collaboration with social company BearBetter to mark Disabled People's Day. The sales fee was fully used as a fund to create a stable creative foundation for artists with developmental disabilities. In May, more than 800 Upbit members who participated in the digital asset donation campaign wishing for peace in Ukraine were given NFTs. The donation proof NFT was published as <Bluebird of Peace> by Park Byung-joon, an artist with developmental disabilities, and is evaluated to be more meaningful. A Dunamu official said, "Dunamu's social contribution activities using new technologies are a social responsibility that must be held as a leading company in the digital financial industry.".
