Invested in music NFT platform
Samsung Next, an investment subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has invested in 'Xenopet', a non-fungible token (NFT) game production company. Following music, it is interpreted that Samsung Electronics is looking for new business opportunities in related fields by investing in game-related NFT companies.
According to the industry on the 10th, Samsung Next announced on the 7th (local time) that it invested in 'Xenopet', a startup that allows users to monetize their assets through NFT games. Users will raise a virtual companion animal, 'Xenopet', which is the same as the game's name. It is like playing Tamagotchi, a game that raises chicks, on the blockchain-based web 3.0 (decentralized web).
Xenopet advocates a game that 'earns NFT by moving'. When performing physical activities, users can purchase various items necessary to raise pets. It is a method of securing the 'energy' required for the game after measuring the number of steps taken by the user in connection with the pedometer function of the smartphone. Xenopet is expected to launch this summer, with more than 250,000 people on the waiting list.
Samsung Next decided to invest in the SAFT method, which separates the time of investment and the time of delivery of tokens to investors. The specific amount of the investment was not disclosed. Samsung Next said, "Genopet developed an innovative game model linked to connected fitness based on Web 3.0."
“The cold wind is blowing in the virtual currency market, but Xenopet has both fun and profitability,” he said, explaining the reason for the investment.
Previously, Samsung Next invested in the music NFT platform Spiderville last month. Spiderville plans to showcase its first project, the platform 'Ullala'. On this platform, artists can produce and sell music as NFTs, and consumers can purchase and collect them. Samsung Next has been steadily investing in Yuga Labs, the producer of 'BAYC', which is famous for its monkey character NFT, and in January, NFT platform Metaplex.
